Aerospace Engineering - Warton/Samlesbury, Brough - Intake: June 2024
As a Summer Intern on a 12 week placement, you will gain wide-ranging experiences that could include design, development, test, maintenance and support of fixed wing military and training aircraft systems.
You will gain an insight into some of the different Engineering disciplines, such as Aerodynamics, Electromagnetics, Structures, Integration, Airworthiness, Support, Mission Systems, Information Systems, Test Engineering and Flight Systems.

On a Summer Internship, over 12 weeks, you will be expected to be involved in a number of areas in order to develop a broad understanding of the Products and Services we are involved with.
Business Development - Warton/ Samlesbury - Intake: June 2024
Identify, develop and win new business as part of a collaborative team with expertise in sales, marketing, customer relations, bid and proposal production, events and exhibitions. You’ll help define country and regional strategies, identify routes to market for our products and services, and gain experience of stakeholder management and building customer relationships.
As a Dimensional Control intern you will embark on ana programme to learn how to apply Dimensional Control techniques to the most complex products. This will involve utilising cutting edge technology and equipment to measure and report on units, modules, combinations and alignments of all products on our sites.
Work collaboratively and influence electronic product content, optimise hardware and software design concepts, and develop sophisticated design processes and text complex products. Activities could include assessment of equipment behaviour and fault diagnosis, assessment of new technologies and components, conducting laboratory tests and capturing data, circuit/firmware simulation and modelling, data analysis, and the preparation of technical reports. Gaining exposure to the entire project lifecycle, you’ll play a key role in both maintaining our existing systems and developing new technologies.

On an Summer Internship, over 3 months, you will be expected to be involved in a number of areas in order to develop a broad understanding of the Finance Services we are involved with.

You’ll learn how to generate concept ideas and turn them into viable solutions, gaining experience of 3D modelling and analysis tools that will help you factor in considerations including materials, manufacture, assembly, cost and performance.
Human Factors Engineer - Barrow, Warton/Samlesbury - Intake: June 2024
On a Summer Intern Placement over 12 weeks, you will be expected to be involved in a number of areas in order to develop a broad understanding of Human factors and Ergonomics.Gain knowledge and experience of the theoretical, analytical and hands-on methods that ensure our products are safe and effective for human use. You’ll work on tasks such as User Experience (UX) research and cockpit design and assessments. You’ll learn about workplace design, User-centred design (UCD), information and control requirements, human machine interactions and environmental ergonomics alongside psychological considerations such as cognitive workload, stress, vigilance and fatigue.

Naval Architecture- Barrow, Scotstoun - Intake: June 2024
On a Summer Internship, over 12 weeks, you will be expected to be involved in a number of areas in order to develop a broad understanding of the Products and Services we are involved with. As a Naval Architect you will gain experience of a whole boat engineering discipline, covering all aspects of design and manufacture, right through to launch, test and commissioning. As well as computer based design work, you'll also be involved in other activities such as computer simulation modelling and physical model tank testing.
Procurement - Warton/Samlesbury - Intake: June 2024
On a Summer Internship, over 12 weeks, you will be expected to be involved in a number of areas in order to develop a broad understanding of the Products and Services we are involved with.
Working in Procurement enables you to take up a variety of roles to help ensure that to that we deliver the right products, at the right time and at the right cost to the required quality. Your role will be varied; ranging from undertaking supplier visits to a more analytical focus of developing procurement strategies.
On a Summer Intern Placement over 12 weeks, you will be expected to be involved in a number of areas in order to develop a broad understanding of specialist teams within the Product Safety department, whilst contributing to the development of a safe submarine design and the production of a Whole Boat Safety Case. This activity spans the complete Submarines lifecycle, from concept design through to de-commissioning.
Project Controller - Portsmouth - Intake: June 2024
As an Summer Intern you will Support the life management of Warships, delivering availability, demonstrating value for money to the customer. This role provides a great foundation for Project Management learning about Project Controls, provides an insight into general business management. The role offers opportunities to engage across the organisation and be exposed to the breadth of the Asset Management business. Working alongside the MoD and Royal Navy to deliver major work packages to ensure the Fleet has the upmost operational capability possible.
As a radiation physics Summer Intern, you will work within an exciting specialist team. As part of this team, you will be involved in the design, simulation, testing and validation of new radiation shielding technology, as well as supporting the planning and conduction of on board radiation measurement activities during the commissioning phase of all current, new and future classes of nuclear submarine. You will also have the opportunity to get involved at all stages of the Submarine's lifecycle, from concept design through to commissioning activities.
Research and Technology -Barrow- Intake: June 2024
As a Research and Technology Development Summer Intern, you will support engineering teams across our submarine programmes, helping to plan and deliver research projects in areas including submarine design, digital technology and advanced manufacturing. You will help to ensure that all of our research aligns to the demands of the business, by working closely with research teams across the business and also a variety of external stakeholders (e.g. university partners and business partners such as the Ministry of Defence, Rolls Royce and Babcock Marine). You will play a key role in the delivery and implementation of research activities for our submarine programmes and could be involved throughout the submarine's lifecycle, from concept through to build and commissioning.
Software Engineer - Broad Oak, New Malden, Rochester, Warton/Samlesbury - Intake: June 2024
On a Summer Intern in the 12 weeks with us, an individual would be expected to be involved in a number of areas in order to develop a broad understanding of the Software function. Which will be create cutting edge software for our hardware and be involved in the entire lifecycle of a product, from design and development to integration. Work closely with both Electronic and Systems engineers, you'll enable the development of complex real-world systems that have to perform perfectly every time, as the consequences of failure could be catastrophic.
Systems Engineer - Barrow, Broad Oak, Cowes, Great Baddow, Filton, Frimley, Weymouth Rochester, Scotstoun - Intake: June 2024
Work in a holistic, multi-disciplinary role, focusing on the bigger picture and bridging the gaps between disciplines. Throughout the different stages of a product lifecycle, you'll take the lead in systems integration and testing, qualification and acceptance. As well as the technical aspects of projects, you'll also learn to consider important factors such as schedules, costs, training and environmental concerns.

On a Summer Internship, over 12 weeks, an individual would be expected to be involved in a number of areas in order to develop a broad understanding of a Weights Engineer role. You will undertake Weight Engineering tasks in support of the Company's programme for submarines and surface ships. This involves calculation and monitoring of weights and centres from project concept to vessel delivery.
During your 12 week placement with us you will work with the team to gain knowledge and experience in the Quality role. Ensuring program quality requirements are met through all aspects of the product lifecycle.

For most Summer Internships you'll need to be on course for a 2:2 Bachelor’s degree in a related subject. For cyber security roles, you’ll also need 128 UCAS points or equivalent and for finance placements you should be expecting at least a 2:1 Bachelor’s degree and have 120 UCAS points or equivalent. If you are due to graduate before the internship begins you won’t be eligible – you can apply to one of our graduate programmes instead.
