Submarine Design Services (SDS) is the face of BAE Systems Submarines for the In-Service Astute Class submarines. We deliver in service support direct to the Ministry of Defence at their headquarters in Abbey Wood, Bristol and the Waterfront at the Clyde in Faslane. Working closely alongside the MoD Design Authority, SDS manage the safety case, advises on design changes and provides wide-ranging complex technical engineering advice, often at short notice, to support ongoing military operations.
As an SDS graduate you will be able to get involved across the broad spectrum of in-service engineering, liaising direct with the customer in this fast paced and demanding environment.

To apply, you’ll need to be on course to achieving a minimum 2:1 Bachelor's degree in a relevant subject, be eligible to work in the UK and be able to successfully achieve security clearance.
In terms of personal qualities, we look for people who are highly motivated and analytical. You’ll be able to see how the smallest detail affects the whole system and must be focused on quality, safety and reliability as these are the factors which give our products an advantage. Good communication skills are also essential, as you’ll be frequently working in multidisciplinary environments.

- Graduate: £28,000 per annum
- Industrial Placement: £18,000 per annum
- Summer Internship: £16,800 (pro-rata) per annum
Closing dates: Industrial Placements / Summer Internships will close on 31st October 2017; the Graduate Development Framework will close on 30th November 2017 and Applied Intelligence Early Careers operate a first-come, first-served policy – early application advised across all vacancies.
