Work experience

Wondering what life is really like at BAE Systems? We offer a range of work experience placements for 14–18-year-olds.You'll get to experience the cutting-edge projects we're working on, meet all kinds of people across our business, and explore the many career opportunities we offer. Our placements usually last for a week and cover lots of different areas including engineering and business administration.
 
Some 2023 dates and locations are now open to application, additional dates and locations will be released in due course. 
 
 
 

Engineering taster weeks

Get real-world experience as an engineer and first-hand experience of the cutting-edge projects at BAE Systems. If you’re aged 16-18, you can apply to join one of our Engineering Taster Weeks at our Warton/Samlesbury, Portsmouth and Rochester sites which usually take place in July every year. Dates, when confirmed, will be available on our events page.
 
On your Taster Week, you will:
- Work on real engineering projects
- Hear about the work we do from engineers across the business
- Gain careers advice
- Learn about our world-leading products through facility tours and product demonstrations
