Case study: Aimee

Image showing BAE System employee I live locally to Radway Green and 3 generations of my family have previously or currently worked for BAE Systems so I have always had a curiosity and interest in working for the company I have heard so much about growing up.

I started working for BAE Systems in September 2017 as a level 3 supply chain apprentice. I enjoyed the relationships I built with the other apprentices, it’s nice to see everyone grow and develop together. I finished my apprentice in September 2019 and started my current role as a Supply Chain Officer.

I work within the Logistic Department and I am in training to manage master production scheduling. I was surprised how much responsibility was trusted to me from an early stage in my career - I feel like I have already been able to make a difference! My career highlight is when I won the ‘Radway Green Apprentice of the Year’ award and BAE Systems ‘Business Best in Practice 2019’ award. Winning those awards is something I am very proud of and thankful for.

As a woman in engineering and someone who has no technical or mechanical education, I would advise anyone thinking of starting work in Engineering that you don’t have to specifically be an engineer to work and make a difference within the engineering industry.
