Ancillary - Barrow - Closed
During your apprenticeship you will gain many skills, including assessing and measuring specific items to ensure that the protective equipment manufactured to templates, aligns with the size of the item to be protected. This also involves operating the sewing machine to construct the protection, then installing the protection onto the equipment. You will also gain experience of working safely in accordance with operational requirements and associated Safe Systems of Work.
During the burner Apprenticeship, you’ll be trained in the preparation and fabrication of various major assemblies that are used to create our products. You will gain experience using a wide variety of tools and equipment covering marking out, thermal cutting and welding.
As a Caulking Apprentice, you will be involved in a variety of different tasks, primarily around plate preparation and metal removal. This role is broken down into four areas which are Gouging, Grinding, Burning and Tank Testing).
During the Level 2 Engineering Operative Apprenticeship you will undertake a range of engineering activities that will develop your skills, knowledge and behaviours in order to meet the apprenticeship standard and that of the role of an Engineering Operative. During your apprenticeship you will gain valuable experience working on maritime vessels, which will culminate in you completing an End Point Assessment.
As a Joinery Apprentice you will gain experience in areas such as preparing, fixing and installing components, as well as a range of repair and maintenance activities
The role of a Logistics Apprentice within BAE Systems Submarines involves working with a variety of different areas of Material Management to ensure the vital supply of materials and services to support our various programs.
As a Painting Apprentice you will be working with tools and equipment that are used for the preparation of surfaces to enable specialised coatings to be applied.
As an apprentice scaffolder, you'll spend three and a half years receiving comprehensive training whilst you work as part of a qualified and competent scaffolding team. You will be trained to take responsibility for the safe construction and dismantling of working platforms at our sites.
Intermediate Apprenticeships are the entry-level apprenticeship for those looking to make a start in the world of work. Available to anyone from the age of 16, with no maximum age limit, they’re also a great option for anyone looking to make a career change.
Entry requirements vary depending on which of our apprenticeships you choose. You’ll need a minimum of five GCSEs grade A*- E/ 3-9 including Maths and English, as well as a Science subject to apply for an engineering or technical role, or 2 National 4s including Maths and English (or equivalent).
You'll need to be curious, ready to be challenged, and committed to making the most of opportunities here.
