What does the apprenticeship include?
The Engineering Technician Apprenticeship Programme is a combination of off-the-job training at a local college of further education, and on-the-job training across a variety of engineering functional disciplines.
Working towards both practical and academic targets, this competency based a programme takes up to four years to complete, building on your technical skills, knowledge and transferable skills.
You'll be joining our team of highly skilled and dedicated employees working across the Naval Ships business area - the team that designs and builds a full range of complex surface ships.

A typical apprenticeship for this opportunity will see you gain the following qualifications:
- Year 1: SVQ Level 2 – Performing Engineering Operations, Core Skills/Key Skills/Functional Skills, Employment Rights & Responsibilities, HNC in Engineering Systems
- Year 2: HND – Engineering Systems, SVQ level 3 Engineering Technical Support
- Year 3: HND – Engineering Systems, SVQ level 3 Engineering Technical Support
- Year 4: SVQ Level 3 – Engineering Technical Support
What are the entry requirements?
Five National 5's at grade C or above including English, Maths and Physics (or equivalent) plus three Highers at grade C or above in English, Maths and a Science subject (or equivalent).
Applicants will also be expected to be medically fit as deemed necessary to perform the role, be eligible to work in the UK and be able to successfully achieve security clearance.
