Living in Qatar
Qatar is known as the 'Pearl of the Persian Gulf' and is an exciting and dynamic country which offers extreme contrasts from the bustling cosmopolitan city of West Bay in Doha with the many impressive high rise towers, to the traditional local souqs and wooden dhows which line the Doha Bay. Qatar has a desert climate which means that in winter, temperatures don’t often fall below 17°C but during the summer months you can expect temperatures to soar and will remain in the 40°C+. So the best way to enjoy the summer months in Qatar is to make the most of the outdoor pools in many hotel and accommodation establishments. Rain is infrequent, but can come in short heavy showers during the winter months.
The rapid rate of growth and expansion in Qatar means that there is so much on offer for everyone. Kite surfing, wakeboarding and scuba diving are popular water sports options offered around the peninsula. There are many different housing options in Doha from apartments, to villas and compound / gated community living. Schools and healthcare are both of a very high standard. With the Metro system opening the first of its lines earlier this year, and the significant improvement to the road network in Qatar over the past few years, getting around is much easier.
The much anticipated FIFA World Cup will take place in Qatar in 2022, so there’s never been a better time to visit this amazing country.
