The Emirates Air Line, a cable car spanning London’s Thames River, served as a fitting backdrop as BAE Systems showcased its high flying commercial aircraft capabilities during Aviation Week’s MRO Europe Show.
BAE Systems’ Commercial Aircraft Solutions business offers a breadth of aftermarket services spanning the commercial, regional, and business aircraft platforms and is the trusted provider of Full-authority Digital Engine Controls (FADEC) to more than 300 worldwide airlines. At last week’s MRO Europe show in London, our commercial aircraft aftermarket team displayed its capabilities in maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) of engine and flight controls and cabin systems.
“Of particular interest to our airline customers are our award-winning service centers in Fort Wayne, Indiana, Rochester UK, and Singapore,” said Jim Whittington, Aftermarket program manager for BAE Systems. “The service we are able to provide from this worldwide network of centers leads the industry in innovation and lean manufacturing principles.”
Also of interest to customers and journalists alike is BAE Systems’ new IntelliCabin™ system. This cabin of the future, available as a retrofit for airlines, integrates a variety of cabin functions to create a more premium experience for passengers and reduced workload for the crew. The IntelliCabin contains several robust features including dynamic LED lighting, temperature control, seat control and power, and galley functions managed from an adaptive control panel or mobile device; all of which free the crew to better serve their passengers.
The MRO Europe show was a success for our Aftermarket team, with customer and partner meetings on stand almost continuously over the two days. With both our FADEC unit and dynamic LED light control for cabins on display, our motto, “keeping you flying is our business,” was underscored by the many people who stopped by to enjoy our booth’s striking design.
