BAE Systems, Inc. is a proud strategic partner with FIRST®. Even though we are a global company, we believe that the hands-on experience and life skills that students gain through FIRST® like collaboration, critical thinking, communication, creativity and confidence are necessary for our country, our communities, and our company's future workforce.
BAE Systems is particularly proud to sponsor FIRST® LEGO® League because it reflects many of our company’s values: People, Performance, Partnering and Innovation. Just as a business’ long-term success is a journey of continuous improvement, learning and growing, the FIRST® LEGO® League competition seeks to instill those same traits in its participants.
FIRST® LEGO® League introduces students between the ages of 9 and 14 to real-world engineering challenges and focuses on getting and keeping them interested in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM). Teams are presented with a new theme every year which they research, identify a problem, develop a solution for the problem, and share their solution with their community. With this theme comes the yearly robot game challenge. Teams use LEGO MINDSTORMS® to design, build, and program a robot to compete in the challenge. FIRST® LEGO® League teams, guided by their imaginations and adult coaches, discover exciting career possibilities and, through the process, learn to make positive contributions to society.
