Holiday traditions in Virginia

Virginia

Arlington

For the fourth year in a row, our Arlington, Virginia, employees were proud to be a part of USO-Metro’s Project Elf in the Washington DC and Baltimore region. In support of this popular program, we “sponsored” children of junior-enlisted service members and helped to fulfill their gift wish lists. Our “elves” not only did the shopping, they also volunteered at the gift pick-up event, wrapping the gifts in advance and ensuring the pickup was easy and festive.

One way that our employees enjoy making the holidays merry and bright for military families in the Washington DC area is by volunteering at the USO’s annual Trees for Our Heroes event. The event, which took place at a local Christmas tree farm on December 7, provides trees for military members and their families to cut down and take home. As a further token of appreciation, the event also included a visit from Santa Claus, holiday-themed crafts, and thank-you gifts assembled and wrapped by BAE Systems employees.

The Stars, Stripes, and Snowflakes holiday party on December 9, hosted by Blue Star Families, was once again a great opportunity for BAE Systems employees in Arlington to show their support and appreciation for our military members and their loved ones. We wrapped gifts for the participants, and decorated gingerbread houses to be used as take-home centerpieces at the event.

Arlington employees also collected new and gently used coats and winter wear for clients of A-SPAN (Arlington Street People’s Assistance Network). The team delivered two large boxes of coats to one of the local collection boxes in mid-December.
