Our site in Augusta, Georgia, where BAE Systems has offices in the Georgia Cyber Center, is no exception. Located on Augusta University’s Nathan Deal Campus for Innovation, the center is a unique public/private partnership among academia, law enforcement, the state government, and the U.S. Army. I&S has more than 600 employees and teammates who provide advanced analytics and information assurance mission support to our customers at nearby Fort Gordon.
“BAE Systems is a leading provider of secure IT support and services for the U.S. Army in the region, and a trusted partner on critical national security programs,” said Kenneth Rector, BAE Systems Augusta account manager. “Many of our interns have transitioned into full-time employees. We are always looking for information technology, cloud and cybersecurity professionals, and we work with our interns to obtain clearances – sometimes before they even become full-time employees,” continued Kenneth.

One former I&S intern who transitioned to full time, Tristan O’Neil, works at the Georgia Cyber Center. Originally from Gloucester, Virginia, and a 2019 graduate of Old Dominion University, he earned a master’s of science degree in cybersecurity and today works on an Army program. Tristan said, “I always wanted to work in the defense and intelligence field. Full-time employment with BAE Systems provides a path forward to advance my career.”
Micah White is a senior at Augusta University, studying cybersecurity. He first joined BAE Systems as an intern in 2019, assisting on Federated Secure Cloud projects. A native of Augusta, Micah wanted to intern in his community. He said, “When I heard about BAE Systems in the Augusta area, I thought it would be perfect. I have always wanted to work in the defense industry, and to be able to do it locally has been great.”
Micah retuned for a second summer internship this year. This year as a 2020 summer intern, Micah helped to develop a Secure Cloud to handle sensitive content. He said, “I discovered that BAE Systems is committed to helping its employees just as much as its customers. The company provides many opportunities for growth and collaboration, and I really enjoy the culture of learning.”

Micah is now providing part-time support to an Army program on Fort Gordon while he finishes up his undergraduate degree.
“We’re committed to supporting our customer’s mission by bringing innovative solutions that further enable mission success,” said Peder Jungck, vice president and general manager of BAE Systems’ Intelligence Solutions business. “That’s why we are expanding at Georgia Cyber Center, which will help us better serve those missions and advance research and development in cyber, information technology, and advanced analytics. Additionally, our expansion allows us to engage, recruit, and educate talent in the Augusta and Fort Gordon area.”
