Our IntelliCabin system turned heads once again this year at the Aircraft Interiors Expo show in Hamburg, Germany, with the announcement that our wireless In-flight Entertainment (IFE) system has achieved certification to fly aboard the Airbus A320. The European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) and Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) in India have issued Supplemental Type Certification to the IntelliCabin IFE system, clearing the way for it to be enjoyed by A320 passengers.
The show provided an exceptional opportunity for the commercial aviation market to learn more about the IntelliCabin system, which provides IFE, dynamic LED lighting, and in-seat power. This was our team’s fourth year attending AIX, the largest aircraft interiors show in the world, with more than 16,000 visitors and 180 airlines participating. During the three-day show, we discussed IntelliCabin with more than 20 airlines, many of which have near term plans for acquiring in-seat power or wireless IFE capability for their fleets.
“Our interaction with the airlines at AIX this year was high quality and more targeted than it has been in the past, ” said Jared Shoemaker, director of cabin systems at BAE Systems. “The market is now evolving to take advantage of technology, like wireless IFE, in the most optimal way for airlines and their passengers. Our certification is a major step forward in the maturity of the IntelliCabin system and its credibility within the marketplace.”
The IntelliCabin system is available for retrofit and line fit to airlines and aircraft manufacturers worldwide. Now that the system has achieved certification, it’s clear that the sky’s the limit for this product.
