Within the Directional Infrared Countermeasures (DIRCM) category, our laser-based Advanced Threat Infrared Countermeasures (ATIRCM) system rises above to protect fixed-wing and rotary aircraft from missile attacks under a more comprehensive range of mission situations. From normal take-off and landing, assault, and attack to re-supply, rescue, forward arming, and refueling, our ATIRCM provides elevated threat detection and layered countermeasures for more advanced aircraft protection on every mission, even in cluttered environments.
Key advantages
- Defeats multiple infrared missiles at nearly any range
- Over 400,000 operational flight hours
- Proven reliability exceeding nearly four times the objective requirement
- Fielded by the U.S. Army and credited with numerous saves
- Approved for all USDOD branches and export to NATO allies
Unrivaled protection
When cued, ATIRCM automatically acquires, tracks, and defeats threats, so that pilots can remain focused on their mission. Using a precision tracking system, the ATIRCM’s infrared jam head locates the missile in flight. Once the jam head finds the missile, it emits a high-energy infrared beam to defeat the missile’s seeker.
Mission-ready, SWaP-friendly
ATIRCM is designed to be quickly removed, re-installed, and updated with the latest threat information. It also includes a built-in tester that keeps it mission ready. This adds flexibility to fleet operation without adding cost – keeping the crew safe from new and evolving threats. The ATIRCM system is also highly affordable, exceeding its reliability requirements by nearly four times and reducing maintenance cost burdens. And its component architecture is designed to be updated over time to benefit from smaller, lighter, more powerful electronics.
Combat proven, export approved
Since its deployment by the U.S. Army in 2009, our system has logged more than 400,000 combat hours and saved dozens of aircraft from missile attacks. Today, the ATIRCM is available to all USDOD branches and agencies, and to our international allies around the world on military and head-of-state platforms.
