Apprenticeships in Lancashire

Our education partners
Our Preston Training School had been successful in the first round of winners taking part in the Employer Partnership Pilot.

About the Employer Ownership Pilot

The Employer Ownership Pilot is jointly funded by the Department for Business Innovation and Skills and the Department for Education. It routes public investment directly to employers so they can design and deliver more flexible training packages.

For 2103 we are able to offer additional opportunities for Apprenticeship applicants, to potentially work for one of our supply chain organisations.

For those candidates who have applied to the Military Air and Information business, you will receive an email asking you if you would like to be considered for these opportunities, in addition to the places available within our company.

Candidates selected for 'Supply Chain'

Any candidate selected for ‘Supply Chain’ may be offered a sought-after three-year apprenticeship in engineering with a North West Engineering company, many of which currently supply components or services to our military aircraft  business in Lancashire or our submarine design and building facility in Barrow-in-Furness, Cumbria. Your first year will be spent at our Preston Training Centre, followed by placements at your home company, for the completion of your apprenticeship, before starting your full time career.

Are you a company interested in participating?

Companies that are interested in participating in the Employer Ownership Pilot should contact Nigel Austin for more information - please see contact details on the right-hand side of this page.

A success

We have around 1,000 apprentices in training in our three year apprenticeship programme, which has one of the highest completion rates in the engineering sector and it was rated Grade 1 – ‘outstanding’ by OFSTED in July 2010. We were also awarded the National Apprentice Award for the Macro Employer of the Year.

Our committment

Apprentice training is a key element of our Skills 2020 programme, which represents our commitment to ensuring we have the right skills to remain competitive and operate successfully in the UK over the next decade, into 2020 and beyond. We invest more than £83M per annum in the UK in education and schools activity, university partnerships and training and development for our employees.
