The handover of the nine acre site, at no cost to the Trust, is part of our commitment to improve facilities for sport, recreation and play within Bishopton and Dargavel villages. These commitments include setting up a Bishopton Community Trust and payments to a Community Development Fund which is to be managed by the Trust.
To date, our company has made payments of c. £200,000 to the Trust and is committed to further payments of £200,000. Prior to the handover, we completed upgrading work to Holmpark which included improvements to drainage and the boundary around the recreation ground.

We have also confirmed that two sites within the Dargavel Village development will be provided at no cost to Renfrewshire Council for the development of 80 new-build socially rented houses. The new homes are part of the Strategic Housing Investment Plan which was announced recently by Renfrewshire Council and will provide modern, spacious and energy efficient accommodation. The first of the homes are expected to be complete by mid-2019.

It is encouraging to see the Community Trust and the development managers working together to ensure the local community fully benefits from the development.”

Working with the local community is an important part of the project. I am delighted that the land is now with the Bishopton Community Development Trust so that new and improved facilities can be developed that will benefit the whole community.”
Scott Wilson, Chair of the Bishopton Community Development Trust, said: “The community taking ownership of Holmpark is a major milestone for Bishopton and the Community Development Trust.
We have ambitious plans to create a fantastic sporting and leisure hub for the village on the land and look forward to working with the wider community to deliver these much needed facilities.”
