Big Bang Fair 2018 - Trajectory challenge calculations

Big Bang Fair

14 - 17 March 2018

National Exhibition Centre, Birmingham, B40 1NT, UK

This year, we are exhibiting at The Big Bang UK Young Scientists & Engineers Fair; the largest celebration of science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) for young people in the UK.
At BAE Systems, we strive to create and develop innovative new technologies. Most of us are aware that maths is critical to engineering and design and is at the heart of technology and science. But some of you may not know that maths crops up in our lives in the most surprising places and is an essential component in magic shows, illusions and much more!
This year's interactive exhibits on our stand are based on activities from our highly successful Schools Roadshow and will illustrate the maths behind examples of the amazing engineering and technical achievements of the latest fast jets and aircraft carriers.

What's on show?

  • Compete to be the top predictor in our trajectories challenge game. The more accurate your calculations the more likely you are to win a prize!
  • Tackle our buoyancy task, where you will learn all about balancing loads and water displacement. Try not to rock the boat too much!
  • Talk to our apprentices about their experiences and hear about the breath-taking engineering opportunities that they get to work on every day.
  • Speak to our dedicated employees who are on hand to provide insightful careers advice and answer any questions you may have.

Visit us in Hall 17.
