The programme is the first of its kind in KSA and is a collaborative initiative between BAE Systems and Alfaisal University. The Company and the University officially signed the partnership for SNAAP on Sunday 11th April. A number of representatives from the Company and the University attended, with Dr Maha Bint Mishari AlSaud, VP for External Relations signing on behalf of the university and Naif M. Bedaiwy, Project Management Director signing for the Company.

The programme is currently focused on the Project Management discipline, and the first four apprentices – two males and two females – have already begun their apprenticeships.

Establishing SNAAP is a fantastic achievement and a milestone moment for the Company in KSA. The Project Management team has worked exceptionally hard to turn the apprenticeship programme into reality, and has set the foundation for a programme that will benefit the Company and the Kingdom well into the future by providing the next generation of Saudis with world-class skills through practical experience. We hope to see SNAAP evolve and broadened to other functions and disciplines in the future. Simon Barnes, Managing Director BAE Systems Saudi Arabia

The SNAAP programme duration is four years with apprentices joining the programme after completing two and a half years at the university and six months’ cooperative training. Entering the programme, the student becomes a junior apprentice for two years – comprising part time work and part time study – and then two final years as a full time senior apprentice before obtaining an academic certificate and graduating as a BAE Systems employee.

Through SNAAP, students work on existing projects and become closely acquainted with the Project Management environment in BAE Systems Saudi Arabia, gaining a full understanding of the requirements of BAE Systems Saudi Arabia’s customers as well as learning project management best practice. At the university, the setup of SNAAP ensures they are also taught curricula compatible with the project management rules in BAE Systems Saudi Arabia which is then supported by practical application.
