BAE Systems Pension Scheme
Aircrew (pre 2003 joiners)

This section of the BAE Systems Pension Scheme has been closed to new members since 2003.
Members were:
  • employed as a pilot, navigator, flight engineer or qualified flying instructor,
  • AND whose contract of employment specifies that they may join the Scheme as an Aircrew member,
  • AND who are more than one year away from Normal Retirement Date at joining,
  • AND who joined the Scheme before 6 April 2003.

This Section of the Scheme gives you a pension when you retire and also provides death benefits for your dependants when you die.
More details of the benefits can be found in the Booklet and Aircrew Addendum.
Contributions to the Aircrew section can be made under SMART Pensions. Paying your contributions in this way means that you could pay lower National Insurance Contributions.
You can also choose to pay Additional Voluntary Contributions (AVCs). There are a number of investment options and these are outlined in the Investment Guide.  Also on this page are forms to help you start to pay AVCs or to change your AVC funds or target retirement age.
You can view the current value of your AVC fund by logging into your account at Standard Life. You can register for this service by calling Standard Life on 0345 606 0098 (between 9am and 5pm Monday to Friday).
The Scheme provides benefits if you die so please keep your Expression of Wish Form up to date.
