Aircraft from the German, UK, Italian and Spainish air forces will provide a fitting line-up on June 16 and 17, in addition to a spectacular air display from the UK Royal Air Force’s Eurofighter Typhoon Display Pilot, Flt Lt Jim Peterson, demonstrating the power, speed and impressive agility of the multi-role combat aircraft.
Eurofighter Typhoon, which is being considered as part of the Finnish HX programme to replace Finland’s current fleet of F/A-18 aircraft, was one of the highlights of the Finland 100 Anniversary Air Show, which took place in Helsinki last summer.
The Ambassadors of the four Eurofighter partner nations, Detlef Lingemann (Germany) Gabriele Altana (Italy), Manuel de la Camara Hermoso (Spain) and Tom Dodd (UK), said:
“We are delighted that Eurofighter aircraft from across the European partner nations will be coming to Jyväskylä to celebrate the Finnish Air Force’s centenary. Their presence is a fitting tribute as part of this landmark celebration and will reinforce our countries close and enduring defence and security links with Finland.”
Managing Director of BAE Systems Finland, Paul Hitchcock, said:
“Last year’s Eurofighter Typhoon display was the talk of the show and I am looking forward to an equally spectacular display this year, demonstrating the aircraft’s continually evolving abilities. Alongside our European partners, we are delighted to be joining the Finnish Air Force’s centenary celebrations and are looking forward to seeing Eurofighter take to Finland’s skies again.”
Alongside the Eurofighter line-up and display, Eurofighter partner companies BAE Systems and Airbus Defence and Space will participate in the air show, presenting more information on Eurofighter and a showcase of future technologies and solutions for aviation, security and defence.
