Our History

BAE Systems is committed to building strong working partnerships with industry that will continue long into the future.
We do more than just export proven technology and essential support systems to help international customers protect and strengthen their defence, aerospace and security capabilities.  We transfer technology and skills to help build local capabilities and drive economic development. That’s why we’re a trusted long-term partner to governments and commercial organisations around the world with a proven track record across the world of delivering benefits to local industry, with £6bn/CZK 210bn generated in the past ten years.
Our work with Czech industry dates back to 2004 with our involvement in delivering the industrial participation commitment obligation for the Gripen aircraft lease by delivering CZK 25.5 bn, which represented 130% of the value of the lease payments, back to Czech industry. This was delivered through either the value generated by direct investment in Czech industry or export contracts for Czech companies or technology transfers that generated Czech revenues.
BAE Systems remains committed to building a strong working partnership with Czech industry having teamed with VOP CZ to combine efforts to deliver the CV90 Infantry Fighting Vehicle for the Czech Republic’s BMP-2 Infantry Fighting Vehicle (IFV) replacement programme. This industrial partnership model can provide Czech Industry with a scope of work that significantly exceeds a traditional assembly of kits of parts.
