Viewed as the role model for future through-life support contracting, the Hawk Lead-In Fighter (LIF) project was established to provide and support an outstanding state-of-the-art fast jet training capability.

Under a performance-based contract, BAE Systems ensures the aircraft are delivered in line with customer requirements.

BAE Systems has established capabilities in engineering, logistics and through life supply chain management to deliver outstanding results to the customer.

As part of the company’s commitment to total performance in its through life support activities, BAE Systems has implemented LEAN, a smart maintenance concept focused on eliminating waste from processes and providing value-added quality service.

LEAN techniques are applied throughout the Hawk LIF through life support program and these processes contribute significantly to the Commonwealth’s Defence Strategic Reform Program.

The aircraft and its through-life support program has been designed for a 25-year life, to reflect the evolving training requirements of frontline combat aircraft.

This will ensure that the Hawk Lead-In Fighter remains a cost effective training solution throughout its whole-of-life.

Hawk Lead-In Fighter is a variant of the highly successful Hawk family. It has been specifically adapted to deliver advanced flying and weapon systems training and support roles for the Australian Defence Force.
