Fostering a diverse and inclusive culture
As Australia’s largest Defence Company we must take the lead in ensuring gender diversity, inclusion and reconciliation with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders peoples and flexible work practices.
We do this though our Diversity & Inclusion strategy and Reconciliation Action Plan, as well as by partnering with external organisations and encouraging our employees to get involved in activities which foster a greater understanding and awareness of the importance of diversity and inclusion.
We are committed to creating opportunities for Indigenous peoples and this year were pleased and honoured to partner with the Diversity Council of Australia to host their Inaugural Oration on how Australian business can maximise the potential of Aboriginal &Torres Strait Islander talent and play a role in ensuring we are encouraging and hosting conversation that is progressive for business, Australia and our people.
Our commitment to creating Indigenous opportunities and relationships, improving the employment and development of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and building a workplace where people respect and support each other is not just words on a page.
It is a principle embodied by our employees.
The way they embraced the spirit of this year’s NAIDOC Week amply demonstrated that, with events taking place at our sites across the country celebrating Indigenous culture and language through art, music and food. The painting, singing, raising flags, enjoying bush tucker and musical performances – including some by Indigenous members of the BAE Systems family – all contributed to making it such a great success.
