BAE Systems

BAE Systems Australia has been one of the leading providers of ship repair and maintenance for many years, and is the major contractor for both naval gun systems and upgrade services for our main client, the Royal Australian Navy (RAN). We also support submarines, and both design and build missile decoys.

BAE Systems Australia’s new subsidiary, ASC Shipbuilding, has recently been awarded a contract by the Australian Government to design and build nine anti-submarine warships, known as the Hunter class frigates. Work has already begun on the Hunter Class Frigate Program, with prototyping to commence in 2020 and construction of the first frigate due to get underway in 2022.

The Hunter program provides a strong foundation for a world-class, sustainable shipbuilding capability in Australia. It will create and sustain more than 5,000 jobs and contribute  billions of dollars to the Australian economy over the life of the program.
