Business & Technical Consultant

As part of a larger team you will usually be working directly for a client helping them solve business and technical problems or helping the client with roll out of a specific business or technical solution. You may get involved in all aspects of a project lifecycle from business case development to testing and acceptance or you may be helping to provide independent advice, undertake research, improve client technology or provide technical expertise in a particular technology or business domain. 

A lot of the work we do is underpinned by our capability to process large amounts of data and turn it into actionable intelligence for our clients – you could be analysing large and multiple data sets and recommending how a client could maximise revenue streams or save on cost.

You may also get involved in internal projects to build Detica’s capability to deliver improved services and products to our clients.

Software Developer

Usually working as part of a larger team you will be involved in designing, developing and supporting software applications.  You may be involved in design and development (typically using Java, C, C++ and C#) of quality software to address challenging IT and security requirements or be responsible for testing solutions for our clients.

Consulting Engineer

A wide and varied area.

You could be working as an Electronic Engineer or FPGA Developer with cutting-edge technology to solve new and complex problems.  We design advanced analogue electronics, digital electronics and FPGA firmware using the very latest in networking, RF and DSP technologies to build the very best solutions for our clients. 

Or you may be working as a Software Engineer, working in small and agile teams to design, implement and deploy software solutions.  You could be working on advanced and feature-rich graphical user interfaces to Linux kernel drivers; software-defined radios; high-volume dataset analysis; high-performance hardware-accelerated computing; and ultra-low-power embedded processors. 

For the Physicists and Mathematicians out there, other areas of work include: new ways to remove interference; understanding how water, wind and heat affect our products and their application; using large-scale data processing techniques; or working on complex signal-processing algorithms.

Cyber Security Consultant

Projects within the Cyber Security area of the business require input from a broad range of skills, from application development to forensic analysis, from information assurance to business analysis.

Usually working as part of a larger team you will be involved in projects focussed on identifying vulnerabilities and enhancing the security of our customers’ systems, networks and communications.  You may be involved in engagements that require us to provide independent advice, undertake research, improve client technology or provide cyber security capabilities and expertise.

NetReveal® Analyst

Detica NetReveal® is a market leading social network analysis tool, with applications for detecting fraud and crime in banks, government agencies, and telecommunications companies.  As a Data Analyst for NetReveal, you will be involved in projects overseen by our market and product experts.  You could be contributing towards:

-    Working on proof of concepts, demonstrating the effectiveness of our fraud management solution to new clients
-    Analysing large quantities of data to reveal patterns, trends, and produce detailed statistical analyses
-    Using established risk scoring methods to flag suspicious behaviour
-    Helping to deliver Detica NetReveal® to live customer environments, ensuring effective implementation and ongoing support
-    Developing enhancements to the Detica NetReveal® product suite

What we are looking for...
In our Placement Students we look for -

  • Anticipated minimum 2.i in a numerate or computer related degree. A or B at A-Level (or equivalent). A or B in GCSE English and Maths (or equivalent).
  • 320 UCAS points minimum (or equivalent)
  • Clearly able to demonstrate interest in consulting as a career choice.
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills.
  • Analytical approach and a desire passion for problem solving.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team.
  • Commercial awareness.
  • Ability to work with people from technical and business backgrounds.
