BAE Systems now has the go-ahead to begin its work at the Radford Army Ammunition Plant in Virginia. In late January, the U.S. Army affirmed its 2011 decision to award to BAE Systems Support Solutions the contract to manage, operate and maintain the plant. It’s a 10-year contract with three five-year options, which could extend the award through 2037.

“Our team is ready for Radford,” said Dave Herr, president of Support Solutions. “We’re ready to provide the customer with innovative ideas and cost-effective solutions, along with our proven track record of safe and secure facility operations. We’re excited with the opportunity to partner with the Army, local government staff, and Radford’s highly skilled and dedicated workforce.”

BAE Systems will be working closely with the incumbent contractor at the plant during a six-month transition period. The next operating contract, managed by BAE Systems, is scheduled to begin this summer. Employment opportunities will be made available at www.baesystems.jobs.
