FEATURED PROJECTS
Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carrier Programme
One of our biggest current projects is leading the development of the total mission system for the UK Royal Navy’s Queen Elizabeth class aircraft carrier programme, comprising HMS Queen Elizabeth and HMS Prince of Wales.
Type 45 Destroyer
Our Sampson multi-function radar is at the core of the anti-air missile system and is the most advanced radar of its kind in the world today. We also deliver sensors, combat management systems, data transfer system, electro-optical gun fire control, long range radar and meteorological and oceanographic systems for the world’s most advanced anti-air warfare destroyer.
Stingray Anti-Submarine Torpedo
Stingray, which is widely recognised as the world’s most sophisticated lightweight torpedo weapons system, is designed for launch from surface ships, helicopters and maritime patrol aircraft and is in-service with UK and international armed forces.
Joint Strike Fighter
We are in the lead for UK interoperability on the Lightening II Joint Strike Fighter programme, as part of team Lockheed Martin. And we continue to innovate in many other areas – from unmanned autonomous systems (UAS) to network enabled capability (NEC) and C4ISTAR architectures for future air systems.
Falcon - broadband for the battlefield
We are also leading major UK integrated mission capability programmes such as the FALCON information infrastructure. FALCON will enter service in 2011 delivering broadband-like secure communications to the Royal Air Force and British Army.
CATT - world class mission training
We, in partnership with Lockheed Martin, can claim the largest networked training system in the world: the Combined Arms Tactical Trainer (CATT), and other high fidelity motion platform training systems.
Type 102 Commander Radar
We are supplying the UK Royal Air Force with the latest generation Commander air defence radar, underpinned by a logistics support agreement that will ensure operational effectiveness until at least 2025. Previous Commander variants have been successfully deployed on operations in support of UK forces.
Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS)
Our UAS control infrastructure brings end-to-end mission and information management, planning, analysis and dissemination capabilities to autonomous land, sea and air platforms. This underlines BAE Systems’ approach to developing UAS technologies across all three domains.
Under-pinning these key programmes, BAE Systems Insyte provides world class manufacturing and through life support capability.
