Warfighter Information Network – Tactical

To achieve the information dominance called for in Joint Vision 2010 and 2020, commanders must be able to exploit real-time voice, data, and video communication in a network with highly extended forces. Mobile networks, a system solution from BAE Systems, make this possible now.

Warfighter Information Network - Tactical (WIN-T) is the centerpiece of the Army's transformation plan for 21st century warfare. BAE Systems will support C3 architecture development, systems integration, and networked radios. WIN-T will allow the Army to see first, decide first, act first, and mass effects without massing forces; it will give U.S. troops a decisive battlefield advantage.

The system will extend down to individual weapons platforms and will bring new capabilities and flexibility for troops in battle. By incorporating advanced terrestrial, airborne, and space-based battle command systems, WIN-T will let the Army concentrate combat power by means other than massing its forces, which will make smaller units tougher and more lethal.

WIN-T will use commercially available products and standards to allow warfighters to exchange voice, video, and data over wired or wireless systems, handling battlefield communications from the theater level down to individual battalions.
