Every year our Applied Intelligence business takes on a large amount of graduates. The project-driven nature of this advanced technology business means that graduates are able to join the business at key points in the year.
 
Our Applied Intelligence business delivers solutions which help our clients to protect and enhance their critical assets in the connected world. As a graduate joining BAE Systems Applied Intelligence, you’ll have the opportunity to enter one of three practices within our business:

Consultant Early Careers

As a consultant you will work on a range of projects with different clients depending on your skills, interests and our clients’ current business needs.
 
You will usually work on client premises, wherever those may be, and build up a rapport quickly with clients. You will be a clear communicator, and be able to enthusiastically and effectively solve client problems. You will be interested in the application of technology to improve the critical work our clients do, and you will be aware of some of the latest trends in the cyber, digital or data domains,
 
Our consultants are often the bridge between the business and the technical delivery teams and operate across the full length of the project lifecycle; from helping to identify the problem and defining the solution, to implementing and managing the change required for our clients to reach their goals.
 
As a Consultant, you could work across a number of the following disciplines within our business: Business Analysis, Business Consulting, Creative Services, Data Consulting and Security Consulting. We value breadth of experience in the early stages of your career as a consultant, therefore you may also work on a Project Management or Engineering role.
 
Previous relevant industry work experience is an advantage, however all applications will be considered on a case by case basis.
 
 

Engineering Early Careers

As an Engineer in our Applied Intelligence business, you will work as a part of a project team, alongside skilled and experienced individuals who are motivated to train and coach you on the day-to-day skills required to work closely with our customers, both internal and external.
 
You will learn the tools, techniques and approaches used by Engineering professionals and apply them in a controlled environment to ensure projects are delivered on time, to quality and to budget.
 
During your career, you will be opportunity to work in a number of disciplines within the business (depending on your background and aspirations!) these include; Engineering Management, Software Engineering, Application Support & Maintenance, Systems Engineering & Architecture, Physical Science & Technology or Infrastructure Engineering.
 
 

Project Management Early Careers

In or Applied Intelligence business, the role of a Project Manager is to harness the expertise of our talented and highly experienced Programme Managers, Service Delivery Managers and Planning, Monitoring and Control professionals to successfully deliver a mixture of business and technical Projects, Programmes and IT Services.
 
Our Project Managers have the opportunity to experience the range of services we offer our clients. They would typically operate across the entire project lifecycle and learn to take accountability for the successfully delivery of various projects. Over time you will take accountability for the successful delivery of projects and services by ensuring that high quality planning, control and assurance practices are followed on all aspects of delivery.
 
As a Project Manager, you could work across a number of disciplines within our business, these include; Project, Programme & Portfolio Management, Planning, Monitoring & Control and Service Delivery Management.
 
 

Your Development

Your development is important to us. From day one, you’ll get your own personal career manager/mentor, who will offer guidance and support throughout your career. Once you have joined BAE Systems Applied Intelligence, you will work through our Early Careers Development Programme. The programme consists of a set of 5 training modules which will help develop you towards a more specialised career path.

Throughout your time in our Early Careers practice, there will be plenty of opportunities for structured development, a range of projects to get involved in, and the opportunity to attend regular events. Due to the nature of our business, we don’t have rigid role rotations. However you are likely to get involved in several different projects to ensure your skills are developed and enhanced.

 

Our Recruitment Process

Unlike some companies, we don’t run assessment centres, or require you to complete any online numerical tests. We assess each application individually, and make an informed decision on which role is right for you as you move through the interview process. What we do ask for is a minimum of 128 UCAS points, alongside (or on track to achieve) a 2:1 bachelors degree within a science, technology, engineering or mathematics discipline.

  • Stage 2: First interview (involving a case study)
  • Stage 3: Second interview (involving a presentation)
