Our Business Development graduates and undergraduates work in a team identifying, developing and winning new business. This includes sales and marketing, customer relations and bid / proposal production.

Business Development is about winning business. The team are responsible for identifying, developing and winning new business to drive and achieve growth aligned with the company strategy.  This includes sales and marketing as well as aspects of offset, customer relations, bid / proposal production, customer and market analysis, events and exhibitions.

The products created by BAE Systems speak for themselves, however in this industry contracts can take years to materialise, require senior political influence and can be affected by countries’ foreign policies. As a result, stakeholder management and building customer relationships through professionalism and hard work are key parts of our ethos and only when these factors are aligned can success be achieved. Our Customers are key to the success of our business and within Group Business Development (GBD) we ensure our international customers are at the forefront of what we do. Our talented teams across GBD are responsible for defining and owning country and regional strategies, identifying routes to market for our products and services.  They are also required to provide linguistic and cultural expertise to guide our Businesses across BAE Systems.

Within our Military Air and Information business our Customers are key to the success of our business, we ensure our UK and International Customers are at the forefront of what we do. You will have the opportunity to support many aspects of Business Winning across Military Air and Information (MAI) including providing support to our Business Winning Campaigns, Market Development & Competitor/ Campaign Analysis.  We are actively pursuing Export campaigns for Eurofighter Typhoon aircraft, Hawk aircraft plus other campaigns involving our Training, Unmanned Aircraft activities and Defence Information Services. In this key role you will predominately be based at our Warton site in the North West of England, however occasional travel to other UK based sites may be required. Preferred degrees include; Social Politics, Economics, Business Administration, International Business, Marketing or related.

 

Roles Available

We ask you that you select and apply to one of our business units and if successful, you will be employed by that area of the business throughout the duration of your scheme.

Entry Requirements

 

To apply, you’ll need to have a minimum 2:1 Bachelor's degree in a relevant subject for our graduate scheme or on course for achieving a 2:1 for our undergraduate schemes.  

Specific business unit requirements include:-

  •  Military Air & Infomation: Social, Political, Economic, Marketing, Business, Administration degree disciplines preferred.

 

In terms of personal qualities, you’ll need to be:

  • Team player – ability to work with others as a member of a multi-functional campaign team.
  • Performance driven - able to set demanding targets for yourself and continually improve the way you work, both individually and as part of a team.

  • Able to show evidence of taking responsibility and using your initiative.
 

In addition, you need to be eligible to work in the UK and be able to successfully achieve security clearance.

Starting Salary

 
  •  Industrial Placement: £18,000 per annum
  •  Summer Internship: £16,800 (pro-rata) per annum
 
Closing dates: Industrial Placements / Summer Internships will close on 31st October 2017; the Graduate Development Framework will close on 30th November 2017 and Applied Intelligence Early Careers operate a first-come, first-served policy – early application advised across all vacancies. Only in exceptional circumstances will roles be available beyond these dates.
