The DDH in Barrow will open to the public on Saturday 21 September to provide the local community and visitors with the opportunity to see the Astute class submarines in build, including the third and fourth boats, Artful and Audacious. Entry to the event is free and all tickets have now been issued.
The DDH is one of the largest indoor construction facilities in the world and the event aims to showcase the wide range of unique skills that have been passed on from generation to generation to keep Barrow and BAE Systems at the forefront of submarine design and construction for more than a century.
The open day will offer a host of attractions for the whole family including a fun fair, food stalls, games, face painting, a robot, cooking demonstrations and interactive quizzes.
Information on the vast career opportunities offered by BAE Systems Maritime – Submarines will also be available, from apprenticeships and graduate schemes to some of the most challenging and exciting engineering roles in the world.
