State of Grace

The New NY ad, set in Endicott
BAE Systems is featured in a new advertising campaign produced by New York State’s Empire State Development touting The New New York.

The state chose to highlight the September 2011 flood at the company’s Johnson City, N.Y. facility, and its recovery and subsequent move to Endicott with assistance from New York State. BAE Systems is featured in one of the campaign’s television commercials, which was filmed in April in Endicott, NY. Governor Cuomo debuted the ads on Thursday, June 21.

“When the state first called to ask for our participation in the campaign, we were eager to take part,” said BAE Systems Vice President and General Manager of Electronic Systems Dan Gobel. “BAE Systems was fortunate to find a great partner in New York State following the devastation to our Johnson City facility.”

The 30 second documentary style television advertisement features three BAE Systems employees telling the story of the flood and how New York State stepped in to help the company remain in the Southern Tier.

“We were inspired by the story of BAE Systems in the aftermath of last year’s flood,” said Harvey Cohen, vice president of marketing, Empire State Development. “When the facility they had occupied for more than 60 years was ravaged, their own employees stepped in to help in recovery efforts. That’s the kind of workforce Governor Cuomo and the entire State of New York want to keep in this state.”

The New New York commercials will run in top tier state and national media, such as CNN and MSNBC. To view the advertisements visit the NEW NY.
