IDEX 2013 - Media Briefing Programme

Typhoon over United Arab Emirates
BAE Systems has today announced its schedule of media briefings at IDEX 2013, which takes place in Abu Dhabi from Sunday 17 February to Thursday 21 February 2013.

As in previous years, BAE Systems will have a major presence at the show showcasing its world-leading capabilities in the design, manufacture, support and upgrade of land, sea, air and security products.
All BAE Systems briefings will take place on the BAE Systems’ stand, located at 05-C25 and an invitation is extended to all journalists visiting the show. The Typhoon capability update will take place on the Eurofighter stand, located at Hall 6, B 21.


Monday 18 February:

11:00 – Eurofighter Typhoon: programme update and capability enhancements
Eurofighter CEO, Enzo Casolini will be joined by Gp Capt Laurie Hilditch (RAF Ret’d), Head of Test and Evaluation and Head of Future Requirements Capture, at Eurofighter GmbH as well as Wg Cdr Foxy Gregory, UKTI DSO Typhoon Advisor on the Eurofighter stand to discuss programme updates and capability enhancements.

14:00 – BAE Systems Land Systems South Africa: Overhead Manned Turret
This briefing is to launch BAE Systems Land Systems South Africa latest manned turret, a new generation low profile turret designed for vehicles such as Light Armoured Vehicles (LAV) or Mine Protected Vehicles (MPV).  The Overhead Manned Turret is operated by one crew member and provides self-protection, ground fire support and attack capabilities to the vehicle system with an optimal balance between situational awareness, crew protection and cost. As part of the briefing, we will go to the Tawazun (NIMR) stand to see the actual Turret.

Join the BAE Systems Detica team to learn more about how we are helping clients to recognise, understand and manage the cyber threat.  Many organisations will inevitably be overwhelmed by the rising tide of advanced, targeted and persistent cyber threats from a variety of different sources, including organized criminal gangs and other such organisations. In order to operate effectively in an increasingly connected world governments and militaries need strike the right balance between business wants and security needs.

Eurofighter Typhoon
Find out what a Typhoon pilot experiences by sitting in a Typhoon - the Typhoon Full Scale Replica is situated at CP-220, please visit us during IDEX.  Whilst, on the Eurofighter stand (06-B21), BAE Systems is showcasing its revolutionary “Striker” Helmet-Mounted Display System, where you will be able to try on the helmet

Armoured Vehicles
One of BAE Systems’ flagship land programmes, the Bradley Fighting Vehicle, is making its first appearance ever in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).   The RG35 4x4 provides the essential balance between firepower, survivability and mobility.  Come and see both vehicles on the BAE Systems stand at 05-C25.
