Cyber Protection on the Inside

BAE Systems and Overtis Group Ltd have signed an investment agreement worth over £1million to accelerate the development of user behaviour monitoring software, VigilancePro, to combat the increasing threat of internal cyber-attack. The system shapes and monitors the behaviour of computer users, a capability of critical importance to companies and governments worldwide.

The need to understand the definitive actions of a ‘user’, as part of a comprehensive cyber defence system is driving innovation in security software.  VigilancePro allows a company to specify data access, storage and transfer rights; protecting data and privacy to guarantee compliance with policy and governance.

The investment in VigilancePro will allow the system to evolve, staying ahead of the rapid advancement of cyber threats and meeting the needs of large scale system monitoring, enhancing the depth of protection.   The new capability will support BAE Systems existing cyber security and analytics technologies.

BAE Systems Investment in Innovation (I3) programme is a multi-million pound annual investment fund developing technologies for BAE Systems’ defence and security customers. I3 also provides non–financial support, drawing on BAE Systems’ engineering and project management resources.

Andy Craig, Executive Chairman and CEO at Overtis commented “The fact that Overtis has been selected by BAE Systems for this important investment is a terrific endorsement of both the company and its security software solutions. To be part of BAE Systems’ innovative approach to combat the unprecedented cyber security threats faced by companies and governments gives us a major opportunity to extend our capabilities and provide our customers the protection they need in the future. “

Adrian Furner, Commercial Director Strategic Capability Solutions, BAE Systems said “The Investment In Innovation programme is designed to accelerate the development of capabilities needed in our future supply chain.  The internal security of data is vital to our customers, developing a high level of assurance will enhance the way we collaborate and share data in the future.

“Overtis is a small, innovative company that can benefit hugely from I3, not just through financial assistance but through the partner support that a global company like BAE Systems brings.”

A press briefing on BAE Systems’ Investment In Innovation (I3) with Overtis will take place in the DSEi Media Centre on Thursday 15th September visit
