We Are BAE Systems Film Festival

And the Best Picture goes to … you be the judge

Thank you to all the talented employee filmmakers, casts, and crews who set out to capture their ideas about Total Performance, Inspired Work, and building a great workplace on video. We were excited to see such an outpouring of craft and creativity.

We received more than 60 entries from BAE Systems, Inc. employees in the U.S., the U.K., and Sweden. Entries were spread across three categories:

  • Musical: A music video that showcases the meaning of Inspired Work.
  • Comedy: A humorous scenario illustrating the importance of one or more of our values.
  • Drama: A moving film that highlights what makes your site a great workplace.

Our esteemed panel of judges has narrowed that field of entries to three finalists in each category (along with a couple of runner-up entries that were too good not to recognize). Now that the nine finalists have been identified, it’s your turn to help us rank them. Here’s how it works.

  • The top three finalists in each category have been posted to YouTube (runners-up and other entries will be shared on OneSpace at a future date).
  • Each “like” that a video receives on the BAE Systems YouTube film festival channel will count as a single vote (“dislikes” will not be considered).
  • Whichever video within a category has the most “likes” at midnight on Sept. 11 — the day prior to the film festival awards dinner — will receive first prize. Second and third prizes will be determined by vote count.

The ranking of the finalists will be announced at the We Are BAE Systems Film Festival awards dinner in Washington, D.C., on Sept. 12. In addition, a single grand prize winner — selected by CEO Linda Hudson from all the finalists and runners-up — will be announced, along with a special prize for the sector with the greatest per-capita participation.

Filmmakers are encouraged to campaign as loudly as possible to ensure there videos are seen by the masses. Feel free to forward links to your colleagues, friends, and family. Take advantage of Facebook, Twitter, Yammer, and other social media to help get out the vote.

Kudos again to all the employee directors, producers, actors, and musicians for their impressive efforts to represent their sectors and make this film festival a success. Now it’s up to the rest of us. Time to vote for the best of the best!
