The Foreign & Commonwealth Office has selected us to manage their global IT estate

BAE Systems Detica today announced that the Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO) has signed a framework contract for the company to deliver Service Management Integration (SMI) services across the FCO’s global estate. The contract is worth around £40m over a five year period

BAE Systems Detica will be responsible for delivering the FCO’s end to end ICT services through managing its ICT suppliers, such as Vodafone and desktop supplier Computacenter, as well as delivering efficiency savings and enhanced user experience in line with FCO’s ICT strategy. The contract covers a global network of over 260 FCO posts around the world, improving and maintaining continuity of critical systems to help the government organisation reduce ICT costs by up to 40 percent.

The Government set out an ICT strategy focused on making Government technology cheaper, more transparent, more innovative and flexible. As well as delivering cost savings to Government, this framework supports the Cabinet Office’s drive to buy and manage goods and services more efficiently and effectively, opening up the market to a wider range of UK suppliers.

BAE Systems Detica was selected as the FCO’s service management integration partner because of its understanding of the FCO’s strategic vision, its collaborative approach to managing the FCO’s suppliers, as well as its experience in managing complex IT delivery within highly secure environments.

The framework is available to other government departments, particularly those that work closely with the FCO and the contract win is therefore a significant milestone in BAE Systems Detica’s plans to establish itself as one of the leading providers of Service Integration and Management (SIAM) services.

The service is due to go live in Spring 2014.
