Showing support for our Armed Forces

Employees about to start the site to site Honour Walk
Our employees have rounded off a week of events building up to Armed Forces Day in energetic fashion with a 17.5-mile walk between the company’s two Lancashire sites.

More than 90 employees from our Warton and Samlesbury sites took part in an ‘Honour Walk’ which raised money for the sites 2014 partner charity, the Royal British Legion.

The groups walked along local roads and footpaths, including large chunks of the Guild Wheel, between the two sites on Friday.

Jenny Westworth, our Volunteering Lead said “It was great to have so many people take part in the Honour Walk to raise money for a fantastic charity.

“The walk was the perfect way to bring a week of events in the build-up to Armed Forces Day on Saturday (June 27) which has further strengthened people’s connection with our Armed Forces.”

Throughout the week, BAE Systems has been holding breakfast sessions which saw members of the Armed Forces, including Lt Col Rosie Stone, engagement officer for the Army’s 42 (NW) Brigade at Fulwood Barracks, Preston, come in to its sites at Warton and Samlesbury and discuss their experiences.

On Wednesday, members of staff who are also part of the Reserve Armed Forces wore their uniforms to work to show their support for military personnel.
