Record achievement

Front Row: Richard Foster, Royal British Legion Area Manager for Lancashire and Greater Manchester, Lady Shuttleworth, Lord Shuttleworth – Lord Lieutenant of Lancashire and Stuart Butler, BAE Systems
Cadets recognised for their record breaking fundraising during November last year.

This week the Lord Lieutenant of Lancashire presented awards to cadets from across the county for their record breaking Poppy Appeal Fundraising during November last year.

The competition, now in its 16th year, encourages all cadets to take an active part in their local community and this year saw 47 Sea, Army and Air cadet units from across Lancashire collect a magnificent £100,438.

Our Military Adviser, Stuart Butler, attended the event at Kimberley Barracks in Preston: “As a former serving member of the Armed Forces and a former Air Cadet, I fully appreciate the work that the Royal British Legion does and I am delighted that BAE Systems has once again sponsored the Lord Lieutenant of Lancashire’s Cadet Poppy Appeal Awards. The award winners have done a fantastic job, and I am most impressed by the enthusiasm, drive and dedication shown by all the cadets. They have raised such a significant sum of money for the appeal and should be extremely proud of their achievement.”

Sarah Tinsley, Community Fundraiser for the Royal British Legion in Lancashire said; “We are so very grateful for the hard work and initiative shown by cadets during the 2012 Poppy Appeal in their bid to raise such a massive amount. The continued support to the Lancashire Cadets enables us to continue to stand shoulder to shoulder with all who serve, providing vital health and welfare services.”

The Royal British Legion provides practical care, advice and support to serving members of the Armed Forces, veterans of all ages and their families.
