Matt Dawson creates a scrum-tious lunch for employees

Matt Dawson dishes up a healthy lunch for workers
Employees at Samlesbury hot footed it to the new restaurant at Samlesbury to see Matt Dawson, former England rugby player, Celebrity Masterchef winner and Question of Sport captain serving up lunch.

The new restaurant and welfare facility, The Bowland Centre, was developed with the health of employees in mind.  Just weeks from opening Matt stepped in to serve up a tasty lunch and offer some nutritional advice for employees.  As brand ambassador for Sodexo, catering provider for BAE Systems Matt came to share his passion for a healthy lifestyle with some of the thousands of employees based at Samlesbury.

“Eating the right foods at the right times can have an amazing effect on both your physical and mental well-being.  A healthy lifestyle isn’t just about a balanced diet, it’s a way of life.  It’s great to see a company this size taking employee wellbeing so seriously.  Having a restaurant and a range of occupational health facilities under one roof isn’t something you see very often.  Investing in employee’s wellbeing like this makes a lot of sense.”

The Bowland Centre, full of eco-friendly technologies, is home to a range of offerings for employees including occupational health facilities, restaurant, coffee shop, and dentist.  The restaurant aims to help employees make informed and nutritional choices about eating.  Fresh produce is a staple part of the daily menu and a live cooking bar, where you can see your food being cooked fresh to order on a tepanyaki grill means you get to see your food being prepared in minutes whilst talking to the chef about where the ingredients were sourced and how you can use them at home.

With the help of the Sodexo team, Matt served up a range of signature dishes including a roasted sesame seed and carrot soup and a mixed bean and tomato chilli with brown rice.
