Malaysian scholars arrive in the UK

The Malaysian Chevening Scholarship programme students at a pre-departure get together
This year we have sponsored 14 students to study through the Chevening Scholarship programme

Over the next few weeks, this year’s intake of Malaysian Chevening students will be arriving in the UK to study at a number of Universities across the country.

The group got together recently for a pre-departure briefing at the British High Commission in Kuala Lumpur and to meet with some of our senior representatives and the other sponsoring organisations.  We sponsor 14 of the 28 students; they will be studying in the fields of engineering and science.

The prestigious Chevening Scholarship programme is managed by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office who select students through a competitive process.  The scheme is for young professionals who have been identified as potential future leaders in their country.  This is the second year that BAE Systems has been involved in this prestigious programme.

Our sponsorship of the Malaysian Chevening Scholarship programme is an important step in developing our education programme in Malaysia and aligns perfectly with our approach to education globally, where we have a culture of lifelong learning.  In addition, these Chevening Scholarships align with Malaysia’s Vision 2020 and supports the country’s aspirations to develop leaders to grow and develop the economy through the Economic Transformation Programme.
