Significant progress is being made on the E-Scan Radar Development Programme for Typhoon.

On-aircraft testing, using an Instrumented Production Aircraft (IPA5) pictured here, has been successfully completed in the Electronic Warfare Test Facility (EWTF) at Warton, Lancashire, and Radar operation and performance evaluation continues in the integration laboratory at Euroradar’s Edinburgh facility.

The development team behind the E-Scan Radar Development Programme report that full power transmission over the Wide Field of Regard (WFOR) is yielding ‘significant data and test results which are exceeding expectations’ at this point in the programme.

Flight testing is scheduled to take place later this year. The new Radar, when fully-integrated into the aircraft and allied with it performance and weapons suite, will help ensure the Eurofighter Typhoon’s air dominance for the foreseeable future.
