BAE Systems Applied Intelligence wins contract to provide Highways Agency with SIAM services for its nationwide IT estate

The Highway Agency has signed a contract for the company to deliver Service Integration and Application Management (SIAM) services across the Agency's national business IT infrastructure.

BAE Systems Applied Intelligence today announces that the Highways Agency, the Executive Agency responsible for operating, maintaining and improving the strategic road network in England, has signed a contract for the company to deliver Service Integration and Application Management (SIAM) services across the Agency's national business IT infrastructure. The contract is worth around £7.5million over a three year period.

BAE Systems Applied Intelligence will be responsible for delivering the Highways Agency’s end-to-end services in line with the Highways Agency’s ICT strategy. The contract covers a network of over 3,840 end users across the country across seven main offices, seven regional Control Centres (RCC’s) and around 30 other locations. By helping to improve efficiency and maintain continuity across the Highways Agency’s ICT estate, BAE Systems Applied Intelligence will help the Agency continue to deliver its core functions whilst reducing IT costs.

The appointment comes as the Highways Agency moves from a single IT supplier approach to a multi-sourced tower model. This reflects the drive across government to make technology cheaper, more transparent, more innovative and flexible. As well as delivering cost savings, this framework supports the Cabinet Office’s drive to buy and manage goods and services more efficiently and effectively, opening up the market to a wider range of UK suppliers.

Julian Cracknell, Managing Director of UK Services at BAE Systems Applied Intelligence, said:

“We are delighted that the Highways Agency has decided to choose BAE Systems Applied Intelligence as its SIAM supplier. We look forward to working closely with the Highways Agency in the months ahead, enabling the Agency to derive the maximum possible value from its investment in technology and helping it to continue to focus on its core work to improve the quality and safety of travel for millions of road users across the country.”

The contract win builds upon BAE Systems Applied Intelligence’s appointment as provider of Service Integration and Management (SIAM) services – also known as Service Management Integration (SMI) – for both the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and the Skills Funding Agency. The Highways Agency’s SIAM service is due to go live in Autumn 2014.
