Last November, 47 Air, Sea and Army Cadet units from across Lancashire collected as much money as possible for the Poppy Appeal and raised a record breaking £100,186.
We sponsored the Lord Lieutenant of Lancashire’s Poppy Appeal Cadet Awards evening which was held to recognise the fantastic achievements of the youngsters.
The overall Unit winner for raising the most amount per cadet was the Thornton Cleveleys Army Cadet Force who raised a staggering £456 per cadet.
Sarah Tinsley, Community Fundraiser for the Royal British Legion in Lancashire said: “We are so very grateful for the hard work and initiative shown by Cadets during the 2013 Poppy Appeal in their bid to raise such a massive amount. The continued support to the Lancashire Cadets enables us to continue to stand shoulder to shoulder with all who serve, providing vital health and welfare services.”
Paul Stone, BAE Systems Flight Operations Director congratulated the Cadets at the Awards evening: “The Cadets have done another superb job to collect such a large amount for the 2013 Poppy Appeal and they should all feel extremely proud. Having supported this awards evening personally for a number of years I am always impressed with the enthusiasm and drive from both individual Cadets and Units. This not only helps raise large sums for the Royal British Legion but also helps the next generation to understand the sacrifices made by members of the armed forces, the need for community support and the importance of Remembrance. For these reasons I am delighted that BAE Systems has been able to support through the sponsorship of the Lord Lieutenant of Lancashire’s Cadet Poppy Appeal Awards.”
