BAE Systems awarded JTRS software support contract

WAYNE, New Jersey -- BAE Systems has been awarded a $9.4 million contract for Link-16 Software In-Service Support (SwISS) for the Joint Tactical Radio System (JTRS).

The work will include technical support, enhancements, maintenance and upgrades to the JTRS Link-16 waveform software. The total program value could reach $24.3 million if all options are exercised.

“As the original developer of the Link-16 JTRS Waveform Software and supplier of JTRS products, BAE Systems is uniquely positioned to effectively maintain and enhance the JTRS Link-16 Software through the SwISS program,” said Michael Beltrani, Link-16 Systems Program Director. “Link-16 is the backbone for U.S. and international interoperability, and we’re confident that we will provide the necessary expertise to deliver the enhancements that our warfighters need to effectively communicate on the field of battle.”

The JTRS program fields interoperable, software-defined radios across multiple military platforms. Potential services under the contract include structured software engineering and program management processes in support of effective and quality software development.

The Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract through the Joint Program Executive Office includes a two-year base period, with three one-year options. Under the terms of the award, work will be completed by BAE Systems Communications & Network Solutions business. BAE Systems began work on the first delivery order in February with an expected completion date of late 2011.
