Housebuilders Taylor Woodrow proved no contest for the BAE Systems team at a series of Tug of War matches organised by MacMillan Cancer Support in London yesterday (Wednesday 13 June).

The Warton Rugby Team captained by Steve Tiernan, easily won the first two 'pulls' with no need for a decider.

The Tug of War event, traditionally a series of matches between the House of Lords and House of Commons, has been running to raise funds and awareness for MacMillan Cancer Support since 1987. In addition to the House of Lords v House of Commons match, other contests staged yesterday were between teams from the Army, Royal Air Force, broadcasters and written press.

This year is the first that BAE Systems and Taylor Woodrow  - who are the two major sponsors of this important fund-raising event for MacMillan, have entered teams.

Steve Tiernan said: "Winning the company Tug of War was absolutely fantastic for BAE Systems and the Warton Rugby Club.  We even got a few tips from Lord Drayson on technique before the match!"
