Combat Need
The Obama Administration’s planned troop level increases in Afghanistan will require sufficient vehicle quantities to meet troop demands. Lessons in Afghanistan show that troops need advanced mobility capable of dealing with extreme temperature changes, mountainous terrain and poor road infrastructure. In addition, Afghan roads can conceal roadside bombs, requiring armored vehicles to survive these dangerous and evolving threats.
There is an additional, complementary need for qualified vehicles with sizable interior volume, survivability and stability in order to meet emerging, specialized requirements, including Command and Control On-the-Move (C2OTM), ambulance and troop transport for the increased forces.
Solution: Caiman Multi-Terrain Vehicle (MTV)
The Caiman MTV from BAE Systems is an enhanced Mine Resistant Ambush Protected vehicle specially designed to meet the tactical mission requirements in Afghanistan and the variable environments of today’s and tomorrow’s operations. It provides the right balance of interior capacity, tactical mobility and survivability needed for special command and medical units and can be rapidly fielded in theater to effectively equip new forces deployed to Afghanistan.
