The Red Arrows

Performing at RIAT 2007

Despite poor weather forecasts, hundreds of thousands of aviation enthusiasts attended the Royal International Air Tattoo sponsored by BAE Systems on 14 & 15 July at Fairford, Gloucesteshire.

As usual, visitors to this year’s Tattoo were treated to fantastic aerial displays from Typhoon and Hawk – aircraft designed and manufactured by BAE Systems and its predecessor companies.

In addition, to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the United States Air Force, a wide range of American military aircraft were on display including B-52s, C-17s, B-1B bombers, F-15s as well as F-117A stealth fighters and a number of historic aeroplanes such as the legendary P-51 Mustang. The USAF Thunderbirds aerobatics display team, based at Nellis Air Force Base in Nevada, also made a rare UK appearance.

As well as the flying there was lots to see on the ground. Thousands visited the TRI@RIAT zone to find out more about BAE Systems' top secret work into UAVs and robotics.  Young people and adults alike played on interactive 'toys' which demonstrated scientific principles.

BAE Systems has sponsored the Royal International Air Tattoo for over 10 years and is delighted to help bring this celebration of flight to thousands of people every year. For more information see the official Royal International Air Tattoo website.
