Mk 45 Mod 0 Weapon System

The Mk 45 Mod 0 Weapon System from BAE Systems provides a lightweight, versatile and effective means of force protection for applications ranging from capital ships to patrol craft, and from fixed sites to combat vehicles. The Mk 45 Mod 0 Weapon System can detect, identify, deter and engage a diverse array of threats with versatile optics and proven weapon options in a fully stabilized mount that can be operated from a remote control station.

The Mk 45 Mod 0 Weapon System includes a Convertible Optics Package (COP) providing enhanced situational awareness and the ability to identify, classify and engage threats day or night, in all weather conditions. The system provides a variable zoom color camera for daylight / fair weather operation, and combines a 3-5 micron Forward Looking Infra Red (FLIR) variable field viewer and "Nighthunter" spotlight for effective night time detection up to 700 meters. An eye-safe laser rangefinder ensures accurate engagement of targets to the maximum effective range of the deployed weapon.

Separate weapon and optics elevation drives allow the weapon to be held in a non-threatening posture while maintaining threat contact with onboard optics. Separate drives also maintain line-of-sight to extended-range targets when super-elevation of the weapon is required for long-range engagement.

The quick-change Mk 45 Mod 0 Weapon System mount allows for a range of weapon options to meet specific mission needs, including the M2HB .50 Caliber Machine Gun, Mk 19 Mod 3 40-mm Grenade Machine Gun or the M240 7.62-mm Machine Gun.

The Mk 45 Mod 0 remote control station provides the operator with full visibility and weapon control from a protected environment. The remote control station can be configured and located to meet the unique requirements of virtually any maritime or land-based platform, featuring a flat panel display for viewing selected sensor data and operator-friendly dual joystick controls.
