Small Arms Ammunition
4.6mm Ammunition
The 4.6mm x 30mm system has been developed to provide an efficient personal defence for close combat. It considerably increases the survivability chances of personnel not directly involved in combat action and who are caught up are sudden hostile attacks.
Developed as a weapon/ammunition system in response to the NATO Land Group 3 document, ‘Infantry Small Arms (Post 2000)’. The system offers compact, low weight weapon and ammunition giving high probability of hit and is effective against modern body armours.
The hard hitting Ball ammunition is specifically designed to minimise the recoil impulse, thus helping to attain high hit probability, whilst achieving effective incapacitation against the protected, dismounted personnel target, as defined in STANAG 4512, at ranges up to 100 metres. The ball ammunition is capable of defeating Titanium/ Aramid composite protection at ranges up to 200 metres. The training round is also matched to the trajectory of the Ball round and offers realistic training opportunities. It is capable of defeating the Titanium / Aramid body armour at 100 metres range and can be used by military and police forces against unprotected soft targets where penetration capability of the ball is not required.
5.56mm High Performance Ammunition
The modern battlefield presents the infantryman with a number of ever changing threats. Advances in personal protection and changes in equipment and tactical roles led NATO to conduct the ‘Collaborative Research Into Small Arms Technologies’ programme. One of the results of the CRISAT studies was the publication of recent NATO STANAGs defining various targets including the ‘Dismounted Personnel Target’ and ‘Unarmoured Vehicles, Helicopters and Field Fortifications’
Land Systems 5.56mm High Performance ammunition has been developed to provide significant improvement in effectiveness against these hardened STANAG targets and maintain the fighting effectiveness of the modern infantryman. Land Systems 5.56mm High Performance ammunition achieves these improvements using a lead free bullet, thus reducing the environmental impact during manufacture and training.
7.62mm High Performance Ammunition
Designed to enhance a combat proven weapon system, the next generation of 7.62mm ammunition brings with it over two years of development to extend the operational range of the well established 7.62mm NATO ball ammunition, enhancing the capability for the user without any upgrade necessary to conventional 7.62mm NATO weapon system.
7.62mm x 50mm ammunition has been in continuous use throughout many parts of the world providing a reliable and effective light support role for many years. The NATO sponsored ‘Collaborative Research Into Small Arms Technology’ (CRISAT), identified recent developments in personal protection and established a benchmark standard for penetration which challenged conventional 7.62mm ball ammunition. The newly developed 7.62mm High Performance ammunition with enhanced penetration capability defeats both CRISAT body armour and delivers a powerful force against light vehicles, including fixed and rotary winged aircraft.
