Available for international sale, the International Howitzer meets modern artillery needs with a suite of advanced systems that increase firing rate and range while enhancing battlefield communications.
From the move, the International Howitzer can receive a fire mission, compute firing solutions and execute the mission within 60 seconds - with first-round fire for effect accuracy. Its Joint Ballistic Memorandum of Understanding (JBMOU)-compliant, 52-caliber, 155-mm main armament provides increased range over older M109s, with a burst rate of 3 rounds in 15 seconds and a cyclic rate of up to 8 rounds per minute.
Based on the proven M109A6 Paladin Self-Propelled Howitzer, the International Howitzer adds the following upgrades: improved gun mount for its 52-caliber main armament; semi-automatic loader; automatic primer feed mechanism; improved suspension; and mobility enhancements. Its standard configuration supports situational awareness and embedded battle command needs. International Howitzer is the only M109 available with a cab structure specifically designed for and capable of supporting the higher firing loads of extended range ordnance.
Options include an integrated laser ignition system, an auxiliary power unit to support silent-watch type operations and an integrated electronic direct fire sight.
