Simulation based acquisition, SBA is a method which offers the possibility to test and evaluate the functions of a product long before it is produced. There are many advantages. By simulating functions, design mistakes can be avoided and costs reduced, in both short and long time frames.
BAE Systems C-ITS offer the ability to perform the simulation from the highest levels of an organization. We can help customers appraise the needs and requirements within the organization and can simulate the results of alternative solutions – even before the decision has been made as to which product or system is to be chosen.
SBA is performed in integrated project teams with representatives from all areas of expertise. Suggestions from customers, users, constructors, designers, sales, and support personnel influence the model; the result is simulated and evaluated. Thus risks and costs are assessed covering a products entire life cycle.
SBA is an iterative process where detail is increased at each step. The figure below illustrates roughly how work is structured.
